Gleason, Thomas 1607-1686
For those of you that are related to Don Cue through his mother, Arlene Schoenthal, here is the direct descendant list from Thomas Gleason, Don’s 9th Great Grandfather. George Chapman, who passed away July 15, 2020, had been the first one to tell Don and I about the origins of the Gleason line. (1)
Thomas Gleason, was from Northampton, England. Thomas was a very early immigrant to North America, arriving in Massachusetts in 1642 with his wife, Susanna Page and oldest son, Thomas. (2) Thomas and Susanna had at least nine children.
The information for the earliest generations are from the family history book Genealogy of the Descendants of Thomas Gleason of Watertown, Mass. 1607-1909 by John Barber White and Lillian Mae Wilson. The book is out of copyright and is available for your perusal or download on archive.org if you want to see more detail. I have included the number for those that are in the book and the pages that they appear. The book is full of information such as land records and wills that help confirm the lineage. We have good records that tie from William Nelson Gleason, the last of Don’s lineage in the book, down to our recent generations.
